Following a diagnosis for prostrate cancer I had 7.5 weeks of radiotherapy at Addenbrooke's hospital. I want to thank the following for providing an excellent and caring service and for always being positive:
The Urology Department for helping me through the initial investigations, diagnosis and decision on the options for treatment, including the ability for me to speak to nurses on the phone to get clear and reassuring answers to my queries.
The Radiotherapy Department for being made to feel welcome and the very friendly and efficient staff.
Doctor Gill Barnett for the very professional and informative consultations.
Thanks to the staff at Addenbrooke's my treatment was successful.
I stayed on ward c8 from the 18th to the 20th August after having a total knee replacement. The staff where very friendly and caring and kept you informed about everything going on I was looked after by white team and can't thank them enough for what they done for me .a special thank you to Yvonne Lockwood who is a healthcare assistant for that ward who when I had been sick in the ward with a room full of patients and visitors cleaned me up straight away with no quibbles and then sent me on my way for an X-ray thank you all for being so kind to me it really does make a difference with the recovery you make in hospital and for rehab when you are home
My treatment within the research centre under the care of Professor Alisdair Coles was excellent and changed my life for the better, without it I would not be alive.
I've received fantastic care under Prof Coles and his whole team.
Great hospital
I took a lump to Addenbrookes Breast Clinic. Fortunately, it turned out to be a cyst. Each member of the team introduced herself and led me through to each successive proceedure with efficiency and great kindness. The human touch started at reception and continued to the end of the treatment. Thank you, Addenbrookes!
My most recent experience was a stay of 2 or so weeks in C8 - orthopaedics in February. Some of the nurses were lovely. However, the majority of those were from Spain, Portugal or Italy. They were caring and engaged. The other group who were lovely were the slightly older nurses, who obviously viewed their career as more of a vocation. Most of the younger UK ones were lacking in empathy and added nothing to the reputation of Young British nurses. There was a very clear lack of care. To be told, after you have rung your buzzer - in serious need of some pain relief (20 minutes is quite a long time in that situation) that' we do have other patients, you know' does not really improve morale. I am sure you will think , well, why didn't she complain? The fact is that when you are really feeling far from well, that is the last thing on your mind. Ditto with the noise in the corridor at night. Lack of consideration. So more thought and respect of the poor individuals would be my suggestion.
I like the appearance and cleanliness and handling of patients.
Was treated very well. Only down side was when transferred to nearer home, my pain killer and antibiotics information was not sent to the new hospital resulting in 17 hours with these.
An all round good service.
